Indexability Checker
Check whether a public webpage has technical signals that could prevent search engines from indexing it.
Privacy.
The submitted URL and page contents are not
stored. Only anonymous aggregate usage
counters are retained.
Can search engines index this page?
A page normally needs to be crawlable, return a
usable HTTP response and avoid directives such as
noindex. Canonical tags and redirects
also help search engines understand which URL should
represent the content.
What does this checker inspect?
- Final HTTP status and redirect destination
- robots.txt crawling rules
- Meta robots directives
- X-Robots-Tag HTTP headers
- Canonical URL
- Page title, meta description and H1
Indexable does not mean indexed
Technical indexability only means that obvious blocking signals were not found. Search engines still decide whether to index a page and which canonical URL to select.
Canonical URLs and duplicate pages
A self-referencing canonical can help communicate the preferred URL, while a canonical pointing elsewhere may indicate that another page is intended to represent the content. Search engines can still choose a different canonical based on their own signals.
